Film Producer and Director Introduces Civil War Film in Peterboro
Union Bound is Bound for Peterboro the film follows Sgt. Joseph Hoover (Herkimer NY) and his friend Tom who escape a prisoner of war camp in Florence SC and with the aid of slaves make it back to Union lines.
“It took 150 years to make this movie!” exclaims Pat Ennis from Fayetteville NY. Ennis will tell the story behind the making of the Civil War movie Union Bound at 7 pm Friday, June 9 in Peterboro NY. Ennis will be joined by Michael Davis, the producer who made the movie Union Bound based on two small Civil War diaries of Ennis’ great, great grandfather Joseph Hoover of Herkimer NY.
Madison County Tourism Names Barbara Giambastiani Bartlett 2017 Champion of Tourism
Madison County Tourism, the county’s official tourism promotion agency, recently named Barbara Giambastiani Bartlett as the recipient of the 2017 Emily Marshall Champion of Tourism Award. The award was presented to Bartlett, who recently retired as the Executive Director of Lorenzo State Historic Site in Cazenovia, during Madison County Tourism’s annual dinner on April 13 at the Colgate Inn in Hamilton.
Bartlett was recognized for promoting cultural heritage tourism during her distinguished career.

New York State Maple Weekends

Empire Brewing Company Travels to China.
China hosted their first ever China Craft Beer Awards (CCBA). Over 100 craft beers were entered in 17 categories, along with 40 media guests, in Beijing, China. David Katleski and Tim Butler of Empire Brewing Company were among the carefully selected panel of judges.
David Katleski, founder of Empire Brewing Company, Tim Butler, Director of Brewing Operations, Jing Zhang, Export Specialist, and Monica Palmer, Design Director, journeyed to Beijing for the four day trip. Katleski and Butler were the only Americans on the professional judging team for the CCBA. Katleski was selected to judge Stout, Porter and Pale Ale, while Butler judged Amber Lagers, IPA and Best of Show. Empire began distribution in China in November 2016.
Partnering with one of China's first craft beer pioneers, Panda Brew. Empire's Slo Mo IPA, White Aphro, Skinny Atlas Light and East Coast Amber are now available on draft and in bottles throughout Beijing; and eventually, the country.
